Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 October 2026
The short version. The app itself sends nothing about you anywhere. This website counts visits and download clicks, and stores the feedback people choose to post. It sets two small cookies to keep those counts honest, and it uses no advertising or third-party tracking of any kind.
The app on your computer
Awesome Downloader runs locally. The links you paste, the media you fetch and the files you save stay on your machine. There is no account system, no sign-in and no profile of you anywhere.
- Downloads. When you paste a link, your computer connects directly to that site to fetch the media. That request goes to them, not to us, and we never see what you downloaded.
- Update checks. The app periodically requests a small version file from this website to see whether a newer release exists. It is an ordinary web request; it carries your IP address as any web request does, and nothing else.
- No telemetry. No usage analytics, crash reports or download history leave your device.
This website
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes standard server logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL) for security and abuse prevention. There are no advertising trackers, no third-party analytics scripts and no cross-site cookies.
Beyond that, the site keeps a deliberately small amount of its own data:
- Visit and download counts. A visit is counted once per browser per day, and a download click once per browser per 30 minutes. Alongside each we record the time, the country Cloudflare reports, the referring site and a coarse platform label such as "Windows" or "Android". We do not store your IP address or your full user agent with these.
- Two cookies.
ad_v(24 hours) andad_d(30 minutes). They exist only so the same person is not counted repeatedly. They are strictly necessary for that count, contain no identifier, and are never read by anyone else. - Feedback you post. If you submit a comment, we store the name you type, your message, your star rating and the time. We also store a salted, truncated hash of your IP address purely to rate-limit spam. The address itself is never written down and the hash cannot be reversed into one.
Nothing here is sold, shared or sent to a third party. The name you enter on a comment is published on the page, so please do not put anything there you would not want public.
The music player
The music player needs no account. Searches, lyrics and covers go through this website, which asks Openverse and LRCLIB on your behalf and keeps no record of what you searched. When you play a song, your browser streams it directly from the music library that hosts it (such as Jamendo or Freesound), so that library sees an ordinary request for the song from your connection, as with any website. Your liked songs, recently played list, equalizer and settings are stored only in your own browser, never on this site.
Songs from YouTube are found with the YouTube API Services and play in YouTube's own embedded player (from youtube-nocookie.com), so YouTube receives the requests needed to play them. By playing them you agree to YouTube's Terms of Service, and Google's Privacy Policy applies to what YouTube collects. This site keeps none of that information.
So the full-screen background can move in time with a YouTube song, your browser looks the song up in Apple's iTunes catalogue and silently reads its free 30-second preview from Apple to measure the tempo (Apple sees an ordinary request for it). The preview is never played, kept or sent anywhere.
Removing your feedback
Email the address below with the name and rough date of your comment and it will be deleted. Because we hold no identifier for you, that is the only way we can find it.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and collects no information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes will also be noted in the release notes.
